Summer Bunny
March 3, 2010

Hi guys! How are you doing? Its getting pretty hot here in the Philippines - summer’s here! Its especially hot for us furry creatures. I’ve heard several cases of pets dying from heat stroke - boo! To avoid this, here are some tips to help you get through this hot spell.
1. Drink lots of water. Mom always makes sure that I have a full bottle of cold water before she leaves for work.
2. Stay away from the sun. We all need the sun, but too much sun can make us overheat, get sick, and (ugh) die. Stay under the shade, and make your Moms or Dads keep your cage away from the sun. Right now, I have a huge buri hat covering the sunny side of my cage, so I’m all good.
3. Shed your fur! Ok, I know this comes naturally. I’m heavily shedding right now, and Mom’s helping me get rid of my extra fur. She uses a defurminator but most of the time does the fur pulling by hand.
4. Take a bath. Other furry animals can easily take baths. Cosette the dog gets regular baths to keep herself cool. But since us bunnies are not really into the whole bath thing, I ask Mom to rub cold water on my ears and over my fur. This helps me feel a lot better on extra hot days.
That’s it. I hope I gave you a bit of good advise. Enjoy summer!
PS. Yes, I am currently staying in my old cage. I just chewed through two layers of wire (I am that strong) and created a pretty respectable hole to crawl through. So while Mom’s waiting for the carpenter to fix my cage, I have to stay in the small one. Boo.
Rush rush rush~
January 25, 2010A quick update!
Mom got me a sack of timothy hay last Saturday. She said it came from a good friend she met in a forum. She also said she saw a lot of bunnies there, and there were lops and rexes. She said they’re cute, but I have no doubt that I am cuter than them.
I’ve been busy redecorationg my little home, an Mom said we’ll be renovating some things around here. She said we’ll be changing my flooring, and maybe add some things to my little house.
That’s all for now. I’m busy playing with my cardboard toys.
What to do what to do~
January 19, 2010The look of disapproval
Moooom~ I’m bored.
Yes, I’m really bored. Mom’s at work all day, and I don’t have anyone to play with. Yes, I have a huge cardboard box, a new key rattle (a gift for Christmas), more cardboard pieces, and cardboard tubes, but I’m still bored. I want my Mom.
So to show my disapproval, I am chewing my litter box. Yes, I have chewed all sides. Mom is not pleased, but she said we won’t buy a new litter box yet. Now she’s looking around this internet for a solution to my new found ‘hobby’. She thinks applesticks would be n option, but we don’t have applesticks here in the Philippines.
What do you think?
Happy Holidays!
December 29, 2009Mom and I would like to say Happy Holidays to everyone!
This is my first Christmas (and New Year). I got a new toy rattle from Mom (thanks Mom!) and a sack of hay from Dad/Mom’s boyfriend. Good times.
Now let me hide from those pesky visitor kids who wants to poke me.
My Leash!
Mom bought me this leash a few months ago. Its pink with green fishbone prints. I asked her why it has fishbone prints and she said the store doesn’t have one with carrot prints. Hmp, I don’t think they know how pretty carrot prints are.
I didn’t like it when she first tried it on me. I’m not really pleased with having something worn over my shoulders. Its uncomfortable. But I had to like it since Mom says it’ll keep me near her. She says with a leash, we can go on walks outside.
She also said it’ll keep me from eating the garden plants and keep me away from Cosette the dog, who doesn’t like small animals. Sheesh Mom, such a paranoid. I just want to stay in my cage or indoors. I don’t want to go outside. I do need a bit of sunshine and exercise though.
But yeah, Mom’s right. If we’re going out, I need to be on the leash. I don’t want to be eaten by other animals. I also don’t want to be run over by a moving metal thing. I want to sample our garden plants though (hee~).
The photo above was taken during a practice run indoors. Here’s another photo of me chinning our old TV:
Don’t worry about my dewlap/furlap*. The leash doesn’t irritate it at all.
What do you think? Do you have a leash at home?
*furlap - my dewlap is actually tiny. It just looks big because of my fluffy fur.
Reply to Drizzle’s Mom
December 28, 2009Hello!
First off, Mom says sorry for not posting for a while. She’s been busy and she always forget copying my new photos to that small object she calls USB. Anyway, we got this email from Ms. Barbie asking about certain things about bunny care.
***
Hi!
Thank you for sending me an email. I love answering questions from other bunny owners.
First off, you say she’s one month old? She’s pretty young. Avoid feeding her vegetables for a few weeks since her tummy might not process vegetables well. You can feed her hay and pellets. We get our hay from the Tack Shop of Manila Polo Club. They sell it in bulk, so we usually share a bale with other rabbit owners.
You can also get hay from a private sellers. (I sent you an emailfor their contact details).
As for toys, I usually get baby rattles, cardboard rolls (the ones used in tissue rolls) and cardboard boxes. Bunnies love to chew and toss our toys around, so these toys are perfect. Just make sure to get baby rattles made from hard plastic, else we can eat them!
Hope this helps! Also, say hello to Drizzle for me. Pics?
Love,
Luna
Furry Butts Fursday
November 6, 2009And its not even Thursday anymore.
Mom, why do you take pictures when you’re cleaning?
New Hay?
My toy is broken. Again. Mom said I should be careful with my toys because we can’t always buy them. “Got to save money” she said. She also said that she already spent quite some money for my litter and food, so buying another toy is not good. Sorry Mom.
Mom said she’ll go out tomorrow to meet an online buddy who also owns rabbits. Hi Ms. Char! I wonder how your bunnies look like. Anyway, she said they’ll buy us some hay, and I’m excited! I want to taste this alfalfa hay they’re talking about.
In speaking of alfalfa, did you know that alfalfa hay is high in calcium and protein, but low on fiber compared to grass hay? That’s why its usually recommended for bunnies younger than 7 months. Good thing they’ll get hay mixed with tmothy, so we guess it won’t be that bad. Mom said we have to change some things in my diet though, maybe cut down a little on my pellet. Hmm…
Woody Pet Review
Here’s our short review on Woody Pet:
So far, the product’s great! Mom said it really reduced the smell of my litter box. Also, we don’t have to clean the litter box every day because a few handfuls of Woody Pet lasts me up to 3 days! Its pretty amazing. The only thing Mom does every night (when she’s not replacing the litter) with my litter box is picking up my poop. She collects them and throws them into the compost bag. I don’t know why she does that, they’re all in the box anyway.
Mom adds a little watter to the wood pellets before she puts my litter box back. She said the pellets are too hard and are sharp when used on its own, so I guess its better to put a little water on the litter box along with Woody Pet.
I also like digging inside the box. I get some litter inside my cage, but Mom says its ok as long as I don’t topple the whole litter box.
Regarding health issues, Mom read mixed reactions about this one. Some people are against this product since they believe that it may cause respiratory problems (since its wood turn into really really small pieces). Others recommend this because its safe even if rabbits eat it 9eww, why would I eat my litter?) - the wood pellets won’t clog our intestines. What do you think?
Over all, we recommend this product to use. Mom says its a little expensive, but I think whe’ll be able to save more in the long run. It also works well: it absorbs all my pee and hides the smell. It’ll take us a long time to finish this huge bag of litter, but I guess Mom will buy one again when we finish this one up.
Litter Experiment
November 2, 2009I told you that we just got my litter last week. Also, Mom got me a new litter box last week since I tend to topple my old one whenever I run around my cage. Since its Halloween, and Mom was home all day, we decided to do a little experiment with my new litter.
First, we dished out my new litter:
PS, thanks to the wonderful people behind ACGS who helped us get this sack. It was really nice of them to make arrangements to have this one delivered to our house. You may contact them at (+63) 2 856-6453 to 55 or email them at acgs@pldtdsl.net.
