Reply to Drizzle’s Mom

December 28, 2009

Hello!

First off, Mom says sorry  for not posting for a while. She’s been busy and she always forget copying my new photos to that small object she calls USB. Anyway, we got this email from Ms. Barbie asking about certain things about bunny care.

Hi Luna!

I love your blog. I’m a new mom of a 1 month old female rabbit named Drizzle. She’s very tame and sociable. I’d love to be the best but I’m a bit worried because I’ve never cared for a bunny before, let a lone a very young one. You said your mom got you some hay? Is it particularly essential? If so, where can I buy alfalfa hay? Also, what kind of toys should I get Drizzle? Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it! Looking forward to more entries.

Sincerely,
Barbie

Hi!

Thank you for sending me an email. I love answering questions from other bunny owners.

First off, you say she’s one month old? She’s pretty young. Avoid feeding her vegetables for a few weeks since her tummy might not process vegetables well. You can feed her hay and pellets. We get our hay from the Tack Shop of Manila Polo Club. They sell it in bulk, so we usually share a bale with other rabbit owners.

You can also get hay from a private sellers. (I sent you an emailfor their contact details).

As for toys, I usually get baby rattles, cardboard rolls (the ones used in tissue rolls) and cardboard boxes. Bunnies love to chew and toss our toys around, so these toys are perfect. Just make sure to get baby rattles made from hard plastic, else we can eat them!

Hope this helps! Also, say hello to Drizzle for me. Pics?

Love,
Luna

Hello, I too am a new owner of a Netherland Dwarf Bunny. May I also get the info as to where I can get hay?

The place I got my bunny in have been out of stock of Timothy hay and I’m soon to run out :(
